Zendaya has long been a fan of minimalist makeup, but she may be changing her ways. The actress just debuted a different kind of glam—a sparkly, spidery eye look that is certainly MJ-approved.
At an event celebrating her upcoming movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, in Berlin, Zendaya walked the red carpet in a custom black leather two-piece set from Louis Vuitton and purple-and-blue spiderweb earrings—but that wasn’t her only tribute to the movie.
Makeup artist Ernesto Casillas created a purple-and-blue sparkly eye to match the earrings, plus spidery lashes as a nod to the film. The makeup artist first used what appears to be a sparkle shade that pulls both purple and blue, applying it across the entire top lid and along the bottom lash line.
While spider lashes can be achieved by applying mascara liberally and slightly messily to create a clumpier look, Casillas used Lashify false eyelashes to create the “spider” effect. The rest of her makeup was kept neutral with a nude lip and beige blush. For the full effect, Zendaya also wore short black nails to tie back to the spider theme.
Zendaya’s hair also made way for her on-theme makeup. Hairstylist Ursula Stephen styled her bixie cut with a side part, sweeping it out of her face to let her eye makeup and earrings shine.
The actress was accompanied by Tom Holland, who has been by her side throughout the entire press tour for the movie. The couple’s marriage was recently confirmed after months of speculation. As the Spider-Man: Brand New Day press tour continues, we can expect many more red-carpet appearances from the couple—and likely more spidery beauty looks from Zendaya.
