If Tyla could transport back to any period in time, I’d wager that she’d choose to visit the turn of the 21st century. Since launching onto the scene with smash hits like “Water” and “Truth or Dare,” Tyla has embraced a very Y2K sensibility with her looks. Whether she’s pulling archival ensembles from the ’90s and 2000s — be it Tom Ford’s Gucci or John Galliano’s Dior — or rewearing outfits worn by stars of that era, like Aaliyah and Claudia Schiffer, Tyla is all Y2K, all the time.

On Thursday night, the South African pop singer proved that, as she gears up for the release of her second studio album, A*Pop (out July 24), this affinity for the past isn’t going anywhere. For an album release party held at the 77 London nightlife club in England, Tyla wore one of her most Y2K-coded ensembles yet.

She arrived at the event wearing a teeny white bra as a top, with straps that criss-crossed around her back. The lingerie-esque statement was paired with a low-rise, stone-wash denim skirt from Gucci, which zipped up the side and featured a large branded patch along the back.

To complete her fit, Tyla wore a pair of silver Christian Louboutin stilettos with gemstones decorating the straps. For a final pop star touch, she covered her body in shimmering glitter, stuck rhinestones along her upper arm, and added a temporary tattoo along her lower back bearing the name of her upcoming album — proof that when it comes to making an entrance, Tyla never misses.
