Kaia Gerber loves a timeless black dress. From sheer slips to long gowns to two-piece sets, she’s spent her summer in the classics as she traveled from London to Los Angeles to promote Ryan Murphy’s ’80s thriller-drama series, The Shards. Now in New York City, Gerber and her fellow costars traded the prep school halls for the stands, showing up at the 2026 US Open’s “Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York” event, an exhibition match honoring the tennis champion. For the occasion, the model-turned-actor wore one of her signature all-black looks.

Gerber’s latest dress, courtesy of NYC-based Ukrainian designer Yana Matkivski, pulled inspiration from vintage bathing suits, reflecting the swimwear’s silhouette in the dress’ shallow V neckline and low scoop back. Known as the Donna, it was cut with an inverted basque-waist detail for an extra skintight fit and reached just beyond the knee with a midi-length pencil skirt.

As for the rest of her game-day fit, the Cindy Crawford mini-me kept things monochrome with thick black shades and matching open-toe mules, and added a touch of gold with a delicate watch. But even the queen of classics couldn’t resist an animal-print moment — for a pop of pattern, she brought along her tiger-print Fendi Baguette, the Baguette 26424 in cavallino leather, priced at $3,700.

The tiger-print bag proved to be the one wild card Gerber needed to elevate an otherwise understated look — a reminder that even the most committed minimalist knows when a single statement piece says everything.
